Antonio Cortés González (b. 1999, Bogotá, Colombia)

Antonio Cortés González is a Colombian artist who lives and works between London and Bogotá. He studied Architecture before completing a Master's in Sculpture at the Royal College of Art. He works with memory as a malleable material, with domestic objects, and with the latent violence embedded in them. In his work, objects cease to be stable carriers of meaning and become sites where temporalities and affects collide: the familiar begins to slip, structure fractures, and the ordinary turns strange, not as metaphor, but as embodied experience. His background in architecture left him with a sensitivity to weight, enclosure, and spatial logic. But in his hands, these no longer function to stabilise. They shift. What he makes are unstable situations: objects and spaces where the intimate and the distant, the domestic and the violent, coexist without resolution.
